Herbert Harman, MD
Psychiatrist
"Treating depression and other psychiatric conditions means approaching a person's life the way you might read a novel, study a painting, or listen to a song. To reduce someone's suffering to a diagnostic label — or their treatment to a single medication — is to miss the chance to help them heal more completely. We're building a practice that draws on all of modern medicine, culture, and community to help patients find meaning and purpose in their lives."
Dr. Harman has more than a decade of experience practicing psychiatry in inpatient, outpatient, and emergency care settings. After returning to civilian life following a deployment to Afghanistan as a Combat Operational Stress Control Officer, he worked in several psychiatric emergency departments. His approach ensures patients are treated in settings that promote recovery while ensuring safety.
In 2015, Dr. Harman was recruited to Vituity to launch our telepsychiatry practice line and lead Operations. With his extensive experience practicing psychiatry in diverse settings, as well as assisting in the development of an innovative telepsychiatry programs, he brings his unique expertise and patient care experience to the practice. His philosophy is to help patients quickly get to settings that promote recovery while ensuring safety from imminently dangerous situations.
